About Us
The ACRWC was adopted in 1990 and came into force in 1999.
The instrument amongst other things provides for an institutionalized mechanism to monitor its effective implementation by state parties namely the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC).
The Charter provides for the active involvement of civil society actors in supporting the role of the Committee and in ensuring the effective implementation of the Charter at country level.

Twenty-second session of the CSO Forum
The CSO Forum will meet for the twenty second session in April 2023 under the theme ‘Drug
abuse and children’s rights – the role of civil society organisations’….
Children's Virtual Consultation Session
As part of engaging children under the tenet of child participation, the Forum will have a children’s
session in the build up to the main Session. The Children’s Session will be held virtually on
Saturday 22nd April 2023. The Session will explore two themes: ‘Impact of drug abuse on
children’s rights’ and ‘Climate change and children’s rights: A debrief of COP 27 and
enhancing child participation in the climate change agenda.’

Police officers have arrested 21 teenagers at an alcohol-filled birthday party at a hotel in in Webuye in Bungoma County.
Webuye OCPD Valerian Obore says police stormed the hotel after receiving a tip-off from members of the public about the minors partying.
